The late summer of 2011 continued for our whole trip home to Erquelinnes. We enjoyed sunny cruising, BBQs and more time in shorts after the damp summer. The home straight to the marina is characterised by the row of poplar trees on the left bank and then we turn in under the railway at the end of the trees.
Waterdog tied up back at Erquelinnes (on the right) as the sun heads for the horizon.
Even as we were mooring up we were invited to have drinks and nibbles on another boat where we sat and discussed weather, politics, this years cruising and next years.....et all.
It was sad to tie up the boat thinking that we had finished cruising for the year but we were straight away duscussing plans for a barge gathering in April in Erquelinnes to navigate up the high Sambre as far into France as the canal closure will allow us. This is a small demonstration of support for the works that are required to re-open the high Sambre through to France at Vadencourt.
